What are energy therapies?

What are energy therapies?

According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), this category of complementary therapies involves the use of various types of energy fields. In general, the goal of energy therapies is to bring energy into the patient or balance the energy within a patient.

There are many kinds of energy therapies, some which use treatments such as light, sound, and magnets. These treatments are relatively easy to measure. Other kinds of energy therapies, such as Healing Touch, Reiki, Qigong, and therapeutic touch, are "intended to affect energy fields that purportedly surround and penetrate the human body." These therapies cannot be as easily measured or researched.

Even though the results of these therapies have not been measured quantitatively in a reliable way, some new instruments, such as the superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) are showing promise for research with energy therapies.

Moreover, and importantly, many of the techniques used in energy therapies come from practices in shamanistic and Asian traditions with thousands of years of use. For example, more than 2,000 years ago, Asian healers believed that the flow and balance of life energies were important in maintaining health, and that illnesses were due to energy imbalances. They developed therapies and practices, such as acupuncture, yoga, and Qigong to correct these imbalances. Modern energy therapies such as Healing Touch are based on the same principles.

Spiritual House Cleansing in time for the New Year!

Performing a spiritual or energetic cleansing of a home balances the energy in the home.   When a home or space is out of balance you may feel unease, irritated or even depression.  Some people experience physical aliments like headaches, nausea that quickly subsides after leaving a space.  A homes can become imbalance due to the energy left behind.  If the home was occupied by people who argued all the time or a traumatic event occurred in the home, the residual energy of those past events may linger in the home.

In essence, you are clearing and blessing the space to make it a much more pleasant place to live, work, or use. There are many ways to perform ritual cleansing. The following is a simple method that has worked for me over the years:

Smudging a house:

  • Leaving a window or door open to the outside in the last room; I start in the West and move around the directions in a counter clock wise motion: I do this around the house, room to room repeating the counter clock wise motion in each room. So, I am in a sense spiraling around the house. I use the wand to push the smoke around each room: up, down, in corners, under beds, in closets, everywhere.

  • Again Focus on your intent. In the last room focus on the negativity leaving your home; never to bother you or anyone else again; it helps to ask that the negativity is removed from the Earth entirely. Ask that it Evolve into a higher, more positive energy form.

  • Next, repeat the whole thing but going East around the directions in a clockwise motion. You are now focusing on attracting whatever positive energies you want in your home and even room to room. Happy, jovial conversation can be envisioned in the dining room. Relaxed, content emotions for the living room..... whatever you want or need around you.

  • The only final thing is to be careful of sparks and cinders, as well as the Smudge Bowl can get hot; be careful of holding it and of where you put it down.. Always be very conscious of what you are doing when using fire.
Try it, I think you will find it rewarding on many levels. Enjoy

Rose oil for calming nerves...

Rose essential Oil  (Rosa damascena) has a beautiful, strong floral and sweet fragrance that is intoxicating and highly romantic.

Rose oil has been used for skin care for thousands of years, it is perfect for dry or aging skin. But did you know that Rose essential oil helps to lift ones emotional state?

Rose oil helps bring balance and harmony with stimulating and uplifting properties that create a sense of well-being and self-confidence.  Rose essential oils also has the highest vibrations (at 320 Hz.) of any essential oil.
A study conducted by Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand suggests that rose oil, when used aromatically, causes the mind to be relaxed and calmed significantly more than a placebo. This indicates that rose oil can be used to treat nervous conditions, like anxiety or panic disorder, and can be helpful when used in combination with massage or meditation.
Using rose oil as complementary medicine for someone with a nervous disorder is a safe and effective way to help alleviate their condition without interfering with other medications. Rose oil is unique in that is is both a relaxant oil as well as possessing the ability to stimulate the senses. This allows rose oil to be used without concern for the mental clarity of the user.

Tip for Cleopatra Skin!

Cleopatra as well as other beautiful, intelligent women have bathed in milk for centuries. While it may seem like a way of pampering oneself, there's actually a reason why the milk is good for your skin. The lactic acid in milk is an alpha-hydroxy acid, which helps cleanse the skin and release dead skin cells.  This allows for new healthy skins cells to surface.  Skins looks radiant and nourished.

You can experience this with a simple milk powder face mask.   Just mix...
  • 2 tablespoons of dry milk powder with
  • 1/2 tablespoon water.
Mix to form a thick paste. Apply to face avoiding eye area. Wait 10 minutes and rinse. It's that easy.
You can add fine ground oatmeal to soothe sensitive skin or honey for added exfoliation.

How can aromatherapy help me?

Linda Smith is the founder of the Institute of Spiritual healing and Aromatherapy and the "Certificate Clinical Aromatherapy" Program that I trained through.  Offer potential clients ask, "How can aromatherapy help me?"  All the while, associating aromatherapy with nice smelling, bath and body products, pampering.  Although true, that is but a small portion of Aroma-Therapy.  Aromatherapy is a complementary medical modality used for balancing the body energy frequency so the body is in an optimal state for self healing,

In the Sept/Oct issue of 'Energy Magazine' I came across an article entitled 'Aromatherapy Coaching' writing by Linda Smith.  In this article Smith describes the goal of energy work...
In the healing process our goal is to activate the body’s energies toward a dynamic state of equilibrium and balance. Our work both as energy therapists and aromatherapists, therefore, is to find those combinations that enable the client to move towards that state of harmony and balance—one of harmonic resonance. We literally are looking for the right frequencies. Therapeutic essential oils produce coherent frequencies that are naturally tuned to the health of our bodies. These compounds literally “sing” the right tune to the body’s cells.
I though this was perfectly stated and wanted to share it with you.   Until next time... I wish you Love & Light for a beautiful New Year!
